Hornets agree with G Head

07/10/2010 - New Orleans, LA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Hornets have reached an agreement to sign free agent guard Luther Head, according to New Orleans general manager Jeff Bower.

Bower told the Times Picayune that the two sides agreed to a two-year contract worth close to $2.3 million. It's expected he will compete with Marcus Thornton for playing time.

Head saw time in 47 games last season for Indiana, starting 10 and averaging 7.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor.

A five-year veteran out of Illinois, the 27-year-old Head has competed in 312 career games for Houston, Miami and Indiana. He has career per-game averages of 8.5 points, 2.5 boards and 2.2 assists. Head was drafted 24th overall by the Rockets in 2005 and has 68 starts to his credit while averaging 23.1 minutes.
