Doan sidelined with back injury

Doan met with earlier in the day with Dr. Robert Watkins, who determined that the right winger will not require surgery.

Regardless, Phoenix will be without one of its top producers, adding to a long list of players currently sidelined. Mike Comrie is out with a fractured foot, Steven Reinprecht has a fractured collar bone and is expected to miss 10-12 weeks, and Mike Ricci is week-to-week with a neck injury.

Doan netted a career-high 30 goals last season and added 36 assists in 82 games. He has four goals and five assists so far this season.

In 11 seasons in the NHL, all of which have been with this organization since being drafted seventh overall by Winnipeg in 1995, Doan has 176 goals and 250 helpers.
